Did you know about the Neighbourhood Plan "Launch" sessions on Monday 13th March?
Cllr Bob Brookes claims that a leaflet was delivered to every home in Droitwich but people are saying they didn’t get one.
Did you receive the leaflet?
On 22nd September 2022 at a meeting of Droitwich Council, Cllr Bob Brookes admitted that the Terms of Reference for his Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group did not exist, but would be available “soon”. That was 6 months ago. They have still not been published. Cllr Bob Brookes does not keep his word.
It is understood that Terms of Reference are a statutory requirement of the Localism Act 2011.
On 4th February 2019 the Wychavon District Council Members Conduct Committee recommended that any sub-groups or working groups set up by Droitwich town council should have terms of reference agreed. That was 4 years ago.
Droitwich Council has created a "Steering Group" for the latest Neighbourhood Plan project. The members appear to be hand picked by Cllr Brookes who refused to publicly name the members. He also refused requests to join the group. Is this a god example of Open Government?
Did you attend the Neighbourhood Plan "Launch" sessions on Monday 13th March?
There is only once chance to make an initial impression. What was your impression?
Our impression was that the sessions were poorly organised. Nobody controlled the sessions or the questions. The sound system was inadequate and the projector was not powerful enough. At times the speaker wandered away from the microphone. There was no roving microphone for people asking questions. Many of us could not hear.
The lettering on the slides was very small and unreadable by people at the back of the room.
If the council can't run a public meeting, do they have the skills and experience to run the Neighbourhood Plan project that will take a few years?
Do you agree with us, or disagree? Let us know what you think.
Droitwich Council effectively stopped us from working on the Neighbourhood Plan, and Cllr Bob Brookes is now leading a new Neighbourhood Plan project. Therefore we have changed the name of this Facebook Page, and the description of our website, to "Droitwich Spa Neighbourhood Plan Watching Group".
We are watching this new project. Our next post will probably give our views on the meetings held in the Community Hall yesterday (13/3/23).
